Demystifying Magnetic Receptive Material

Your client has decided they are interested in “that magnetic stuff that I can stick to the wall”.
You know there are products called “magnetic receptive media”, but you are not really sure how they work and differ from a magnet.
Most people know how a magnet works, you apply the magnet to a metal surface and it sticks but two magnets will not stick to each other. What makes magnetic receptive media different is, it is part of a magnetic system that includes a magnetic base and a printable media with embedded ferrous particles that will stick to the magnet.
Here is a brief description of the choices available with Magnetic Receptive Media.
Option One- Applying the graphic directly onto a wall surface.
Components
- XMR Primer
- Action Magnet 40 mil Hi Energy Double Sided
- XMR printable magnetic receptive media
Procedure
- Apply two coats of XMR Primer to the wall
- Position Action Magnet 40mil double sided in place on wall
- Print XMR magnetic receptive media and apply to Action Magnet on the wall
(Action Magnet will accept two layers of XMR magnetic receptive media)
Option Two- Applying graphic to a board that is mounted on the wall surface.
Components
- Action Magnet w/ adhesive- standard energy or hi energy
- XMR printable magnetic receptive media
Procedure
- Adhere Action Magnet with adhesive to rigid board (usually plastic)
- Mount board to wall
- Print on XMR magnetic receptive media and place on board
Action Magnet standard energy will accept two layers of XMR
Action Magnet hi energy will accept three layers of XMR
